JoyceDeWitt first appeared on stage at the age of 13. When she was 13 years old, Dewitt began to perform on stage. She graduated with the Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. When she performed in her summer stock she was encouraged by the director to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. She was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. While at UCLA she worked as a secretary until her debut on television in an episode of Baretta.Contrary to the rumor that she was guided by actor Abe Vigoda, Dewitt has declared that the two actors did not meet. DeWitt's role as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 period is among her most famous. She was part of the show's pilot and got the job. Janet was also in an episode of The Ropers that she was in the year 1979. DeWitt began her acting career in an episode in 1984 on Three's Company. Acting was her first foray back to the stage in the month of June in 1991 when she played a part in a Noises Off production at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. After that she was in the TV comedy Spring Fling! A character who was based on her, voiced by another actress, appeared in the 1997 episode of Pinky and the Brain. She appeared in an episode Cybill and also made an appearance on Living Single's penultimate episode. [6] She has appeared in TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special, and Call of the Wild in 2000.
