Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a speaker. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentary and analyses of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which examines female representations in the popular media narratives. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is her primary goals. However, Sarkeesian also explores the issue of specific harassment of women on the internet as well as other communities who are excluded. With a master's in the field of political and social thinking at York University Sarkeesian is also a much sought-after public speaking engagement and has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. While a student at university she became concerned about issues related to gender equality and the rights of women from a young age. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series that examined gender representation in games, however, she was also the subject of a harassment campaign online. The attack did have been a hindrance, rather it only strengthened her resolve to be a feminist media critic. In recognition of the many accomplishments she's made to feminist movements, she has been awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational nonprofit that studies the ways women are depicted within media narratives.
